I recently was looking at some automation tools for SEO (search engine optimization), research type stuff. Many of these, including the latest one I reviewed, claim to be the classic “SEO in a box” – easy, fast, effective.
I just cannot ever get behind these so-called one stop shop SEO tools. Reason: some will claim that it’s all you need, SEO is easy. However, I must say – SEO is not easy when you’re building a long term, growing business, specially in competitive markets.
So, if you want to learn most all of these ‘solid’ SEO strategies, you can do it by reading through these authoritative posts and pages below. It’ll get you close, but you’ll need to do it for a while to get to 99.99% (you will never get to 100%, because the search engines will change while you’re sleeping!)
Search engine optimization is ongoing, requires way more than technical savvy, and over the years has become a combination of (not in order): design expertise, architecture, research, technology, tools, copywriting, page optimization, conversion testing, links and reputation management, relationship building on and offline, social connectors, local connectors, content development and web tracking, analysis and general marketing consulting and sales.
We all are caught in it – massive bombardment of advertising and specially designed copywritten messages every day – radio, tv, magazines, internet, etc. While driving, travelling – just walking around will subject you to this information, whether you like it or not.
The advertising experts and copywriting professionals all want to make a change in your (buying) behavior and preferences.
When you walk into to a store, or online – you’ll select the product as if you’ve already known it all along.
For new readers, it is important to remind you of the importance of link building.
The value for search engine rankings and visibility has been known in our community for a long time.
The quality of links (backlinks, incoming links) are paramount to long term success.
Sure, you can get a quick “boost”, but only to die off, or the slow ranking death due to lack of quality (and site issues, etc).
Learn more about the benefits, and how you can create more quality links in this post.

If you do build a great experience, customers tell each other about that. Word of mouth is very powerful.-Jeff Bezos
Nice to be included in a list of top Illuminati in the social media and online world in general.
But, what things do the people on this list have to say about Social Media Marketing?

Recently, I was talking with a friend about how we acquire knowledge in different areas of our professional lives. While he is a certified account (took classes!), and now a successful CFO/controller at a Fortune 100 company, he’s become more interested in search and online marketing in general. He sort of was “lost” on where to start though. He launched a sports memorabilia company, but saw that he needed to, and wanted to – know more about SEO (search engine optimization).
I shared the concept of the 10,000 hours, as laid out in Malcolm Gladwell’s book “Outliers“. It basically indicates (paraphrasing) that to become knowledgeable, to the level or expert and mastery, you must submit to, and know that results and research show that anybody can get there. But, you must put in the hours! And, no whining (just kidding).
Search engine optimization is really only “content” + “links”. So, how does it break down for a business related website?
SEO was considered a pretty technical exercise from the beginning (mid-90′s). Tweak and spam up your HTML code, and you would show up in the search engines. But, you had to know code. This has changed to become more PR centric over time and content is central to your online / offline marketing, always has been.
Here are simple steps you can now take to get your business website listed in the search results:
I get this question a lot about building and managing social media in a growing business:
“How can I manage and run my business, when social media marketing seem to take up all my time”? They continue, “I just don’t see how I can make use of social media, and get results if I cannot take the time – how can I do it”? (gasp, arghh, despair)
Well, fear not! You too can become a highly productive social media rock star – in fact – I created this “how to become a social media rocket” presentation – and how to use the 24 hours we are all allotted in a day. There’s a social media business marketing tactics e-book download here you could check it also (from me).
You may be surprised to learn about the process and approach. Make sure you understand the human side as well as the automated side.
If you want to increase and build targeted traffic quickly – (and who doesn’t) – start with this powerful tip, in 3 simple steps. If you are a global organization, receiving incoming traffic from across the world, this may be a bigger task, but even more targeted traffic can be had.
Try this:
STEP 1:
Review the keyword reports that are non-branded (exclude company name, and “obvious” searches) in your Google Analytics or web analytics package. You can do this by running the report with an exclude filter (for obvious terms) option. If using GA – it’s at the bottom of your report when selecting “Keywords”. GA is free, and an awesome data insights and tracking tool you should already have on your web-pages. Don’t use existing webserver analytics, it’s baby-stuff compared to a proper tool.
When we write ads for online bid systems like Adwords and Yahoo for example — we try to make the ad copy match user intent (relevancy), while supplying a benefit, an emotional pull, urgency, scarcity – all at the same time.
I am really feeling for the pain the artist P!nk endured in this video from her concert opening in Germany this summer. Not a fun place to be, beaten down emotionally and physically hurt.
She was able to pick herself up quickly tho, so that’s awesome. She shows true strength and drive, and her fan base probably grew bigger from the (un)wanted press, and she keeps goin’ on. Financially, she did fine too and has an even brighter future.
